Working on Zombie

#7460 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Hey everyone,

I just joined workshops and now I am really trying to learn zbrush. Long way to go, but here I am. Getting started part is done and now I am sculpting details to make zombie.

All the Best,
Mika

Welcome Mika!

You're off to a good start. I really like the eyes you have, they are clearly defined but also too large. Remember that the head is about 5 eyes wide and one eye of space separates the two eyes. The ears can be moved up so they rest between the bottom of the nose and the eye brow.

You have a lot of bones protruding more than they naturally would (mainly zygomatic and orbital arch). This happens when you initially create a base shape that already has these parts defined underneath and then you sculpt them over top of the underlying form. What you should do subtract the inverse out. Same concept with the head, you see how your sculpted in the two temporal lines over top of the existing skull shape you had? Now it's creating this rounded off cube.

This is a really good start though Mika. You're running into some very common things that we all run into. I can see you have control of the program so far. Keep the progress coming.

Continues...

I tried to correct ears, bones and eyes - maybe eyes are still too big.

After that I rushed to detailing part. Zombie look is so fun to make and explore brushes and workflow. Deformations tool creates nice effects to skin.

Cool! That's exactly what this workshop is supposed to get you to do. You're having fun, you're exploring to see what things do while noticing the outcome, and you're learning.

Your progress is looking really nice.

Thanks again.

Well, now there is Fibermesh in Zbrush. I played with that feature little bit, trying different settings for hair. Eventually I did it like in workshop - carving in and out trying to sculpt hairline. Somehow it looks better than "real" hair in this stage. Maybe it's the material. I feel like I am working real clay. Ryan is giving great introduction and foundation to zbrush.

I am bringing a hairline more forward in a second render - now I think that hair is overworked. Too much detail?

Update to head:

I am working on Bone structure. I am afraid that face will lose its shape.
Can I leave it in peace now?
